Hellooooo!
Just popping in, as per usual I am rushing around, but have to share with you what I am up to at the moment.
If any of you have been reading one of my other blogs - Recollections and Memories - you will know that I volunteer at a Steam Railway Works mainly working in the Visitors Garden. Other Volunteers have been working to refurbish the Signal Box and it is now, after many months, nearing completion.
I am working on refurbishing the 'flower boxes' that are attached to the Signal Box and railings around the Signal Box Garden.
I am mending and painting in rotation as I can't depend on the weather - no surprise there then!
I have completed the first two, now I am working on the next ones ....
They are in a sorry state.
I bring them home and empty them out in the garden.
After a good scrub I can mend them, filling in holes and glueing splits - think mixed media!!
Then paint ..... this is the best bit.
Back story to the gold centres is that some boxes (gold & silver leaves and accoutrements) were thrown out and my DH, being a nosey sort of person, brought them home to me.
The person who owned these boxes - enquiries to be made - was a meticulous worker so I have used some of the gold leaf in the centre of the Tudor Roses as a passing acknowledgement to him/her.
I am today, hopefully, adding another two boxes to the completed list!
I am sorry I did not get round to visiting many desks last week, I hope to be better this week.
A big thank you to my visitors, for the lovely comments and the laughs .... you really do brighten up my week.
oh! BTW - I will be catching up with my ATCs swaps soon, I haven't forgotten I am still owing some.
Wow what an interesting project, I'm sure they'll look great when you have finished with them!! Happy WOYWW Comdy #36

I'm really impressed with your handiwork...they look fab, well done you. And what a great cause to be doing it for...we love steam trains in our house. Driving one was my son's 21st birthday present!

You have done a fabulous job repairing these flower boxes. I enlarged one and immediately recognized the Tudor Rose, after just completing an AB on British Kings and Queens. Quite a work of art, I would say, both for you and the metal worker who originally made these boxes. Happy WOYWW from # 5.
ReplyDeleteI still have an atc for you if you want it. I left a message on the anniversary post and last week's.... email me your address! Great makeovers. Helen 2
