First July Birthday

I love these Fashion Digis from Paulette and wanting to use a pink card I coloured the design with watercolour pencils and added this digi to a red lace strip from my stash.  I didn't want to detract from the image but felt that something was still missing.

Then I remembered the flowers I bought earlier in the week and, using some of the white flower heads, gently wiped them across a red stamp pad.  Once they had dried, I cut them from the spray leaving a small length of stem so that I could glue them to the card.
I think this balances the card and so I will send it off in the post.

WOYWW #212

Another Wednesday and another rush day .............. just because it's Orange Wednesday and we like to go to the afternoon screening - today is SUPERMAN, yeah! at last! seems like I've been waiting forever!  Suppose you've guessed I love those comics..........

Anyhow back to topic WOYWW - I'll show mine if you show yours (all details at top of page on new tab)
Thank you again to the lovely Julia who is busy following a map of her own.

I am so pleased that the Craft Room here in the madhouse is open again - this was my desk on Monday.

This is my desk today.
I am cutting up silk flowers for my card making - I bought two stems from Wilkinsons for £3 and I will end up with three types of flowers and some leaves.  Good value I thought.  Please also note the new mat  - bought specially for my stamping etc. - I get tired of hearing about them on Create & Craft TV!!!

And another photo for all you chicken lovers .................... I finished Mother Hen and her chicks. (sort of - might have to add some more colours .........).

June Swaps for CardWorkShop Group

So my cards are completed and in the post even though it has been soooo busy this month.  I have received some swaps already, some absolute stunners!

My 1 to 1 uses several elements from a design by Jackie Rothwell which I watercoloured and added the quote.  I then used another part of the design to make the border, cut round it and added pearls
.Updated to add a very pretty card from Jane - love those banners!

I used another Melonheadz design (see here for previous one) on a pink card for my second 1 to 1 swap.  I splashed the doyley with some of the paint, topped it with my girley image, edged the sentiment and placed that in the corner.
I received this pretty in pink card from Robin - so CAS, I love it!

My first Ribbon swap used purple wool/ribbon and the image is from Dearie Girls (you have to search around a bit).

Angela sent me this stunning card, magnificent flower finished with a button.  I also like the different paper used to back the sentiment.

My second Ribbon swap uses a card from a package that I found during a hunt for something else .......... not that anybody would understand that   (grin)
The squares were diecut so I removed them, turned them and then added them back behind the windows using 3D tape.  I  then added premade ribbon bows with pearls in the centre. (Jane had told me that the centre pearls did not make it through the post, which is a shame but .....)
UPDATE: Received this lovely ribbon card in golden colours - love the way the ribbon has been threaded through the label!

The Colour My World swap this month is White card with gold and one other colour which left it pretty simple for me.  I corner rounded the card and some gold glitter paper.  On top of the gold I used a pre made bouquet of roses, ribbons and pearls which I have had for some time but never found a use for them.  I added an oval gold sentiment and then, inspired by Marit  who swapped ATCs with me, I made the envelope.

I used Marit's envelope as a template, and some wallpaper as I thought it would be stronger for the post.  Unfortunately, no labels would adhere to it so there is rather a lot of cellotape round it which spoils the effect - but it looked good before I used it!!!
Updated - I received this stunning card, the scan does not do it justice I'm afraid but I didn't have my camera to hand.  The gold peel offs are complimented by small gold dragonflies.

Dream Butterfly Stamp

I am inspired by this card.
When I first saw it on Beth's Blog I knew I wanted to own it and then she made another card with it!

So I have had to go search for a Uk seller and managed to find Quixotic Paperie situated in the South West of England - in Dorset, one of my favourite counties.  While I was browsing looking at searching for this stamp I happened upon a couple of others so popped those into my basket (as you do!)
I placed my order on Friday, received an invoice to say it was in the post and the stamps arrived this morning (Monday) - how:s that for service?!

Now to find out if the craft room is open so I can try them out.............

WOYWW #211

My desk is not being used this week, the Craft Room is closed.

I have a lot going on at the moment, mainly preparing for an Open Day at the Tyseley Steam Loco Works so crafting is off the menu until Monday.

BUT

What I do have is a massive big thank you to all the WOYWWers who responded with an ATC swap.

If you want to see the swaps they are here.

Thank you Julia again for hosting our WOYWWs and have a happy WOYWW day everyone.

May Swaps for CardWorkShop Group

These swaps are not complete and I will update if they are
completed.

This design from Imagine that was entered into a challenge which used purple and yellow.
Lavender and lemon being one of  my favourite colour sets I layered the image onto purple backing papers on a green card.

My return swap from Chrisann was bright and beautiful!

For my second 1 to 1 card -

I used punched flower shapes from some checked paper and popped them onto a white card.   I  used the ribbon bows set on flowered squares, little knowing the challenge for next month!  Corner triangles from the flowered paper were attached to the corners.

These hand painted lilies were my return swap from Caryl.

Colour My World was yellow card with white and another colour.

I stamped some poppies several times on a piece of wrapping paper that I had saved and then white embossed them.  I cut one poppy from the paper and corner rounded it, PVA'd it completely and put to one side to dry.  I then cut a piece of the remaining paper to size and attached it to my yellow card leaving a small border.
The small square had dried great
so I edged it with brown ink and popped it onto the card.  I PVA'd another piece of paper and when it was dry, corner rounded it, hand wrote with white gelpen 'Hello!' and attached it to the lower corner.
My return card was another bright and cheerful offering from Chrisann and really brightened my day when it arrived!

My Peel Offs swap was very much a trial and error!

I had wanted to use these peel offs for a long time but hadn't decided how to use them.  I peeled the gold filigree off the backing paper, allowed it to stand for a while to settle and then carefully attached it to white paper.  I then cut round the peel off and attached it to a blue spotty card.  I coloured some flower peel offs and arranged them in the centre while leaving space to place my sentiment.

99 Birthday Card

This is the first time I have made one of these!

Doris is a lovely lady, trying to be independent in every way.  I made this card for her using some numbers I fell in love with while we were in Oban.
I found some card that had just the right amount of matching sparkle  and cut it to size.

I then sat looking at it and trying to work out how I could decorate the card without detracting from the numbers.

I made a mask the same size as the base card and then cut an oblong the same size as the sparkle card.  When this mask was attached I sprayed the base with my spritzer and left to dry.  Painting the edges of the numbers with a small amount of the spritzer from my work mat brought the numbers into definition   I punched the corners of the card and then attached to the base fitting it over the sprayed oblong, positioning the numbers, banner and stars in place.

I used the spritzer on some plain paper so that I could make the insert and decided to round the corners of both the insert and the card.

Happy 99th Birthday Doris!

xx
